dreams about brother I don't talk to

I keep having these dreams about my brother I don't talk to because of a drug problem he has.

He is 10 years older than I, I am 25, he is 35. He has no family left that talks to him. I have these dreams where I see him, and I tell him how happy I am, about my fiance, my successful business, and my new truck I just bought.

I wake up all down, worried about him, but I know I have to be strong and not contact him. He is not invited to my wedding. Why am I having these dreams? Any ways to that you would recommend to deal with them?

I think your dreams represent the fact that you do want to contact him - sounds like you do even at a conscious level as you say that you have to be strong and not contact him. He's your brother, he may have messed up, but you still care about him and you're sad that he can't be a part of your life. As for what you do about it... that's a less easy question to answer. Maybe you need to see him? I don't know.

when was the last time you heard from him? Do you know that he's still using?

Family is sooo important. In the end its really all you have. My brother is overseas in the Marines and his HumV got hit the other day. I don't know what I'd do if something happened to him. I tell you this b/c you never know when someone's last day may be. If you can find it in yourself to forgive him and make ammends at least you will know you tried.

He got arrested in October of 2007, spent 3 days in jail, when he got out he called my father because he was angry my Dad did not help him this time. (bail)

He called my dad some things that really hurt him, and me, he also blamed me for his problems basically because he is jealous of my success. (we are both mobile DJ's) and I would not help him with jobs because my name is on the line when he is working for me.

I have not talked to him since August of 2007

This would be the 3rd time I have forgiven him and made ammends... I need to be strong and not let myself be hurt again. He has done this "I'm clean" garbage before. I'm not going to be a fool.

I can understand why you aren't in touch with him under the circumstances. At the same time, you're happy with things in your life and deep down you'd like to be able to share them with your brother. As you said though, it's probably not a good idea to give him the chance to hurt you again until you know for certain he has cleaned up his act. All I can say is, hopefully, those dreams will pass with time. I'm sorry about this situation though.
