Sharp pain in my side...

I was wondering if someone on here could possibly know or relate to this...

In June 2006, one day out of the blue this real SEVERE pain shot through me on my left side. For almost 4 months I lived with this constant pain. It would lessen up at times but then go right back to being unbearable. Then after the 4 months the pain started just coming and going.

It is under my left lower ribcage. Right at the end of the ribcage.

The pain STILL happens. It has been almost a year and a half. Now the pain comes and goes. When it comes it stays for weeks and the pain is unbearable.

Don't have the $$$ for a DR otherwise I would already have gone that route.

I so want this pain to stop...

Did you get hit there with anything or fall on it?

Nope just came out of the blue. No injury prior.

I might also want to add that nothing relieves the pain. It is the same standing, sitting, laying down, eating or not, bathroom, etc

I haven't slept but like 5-6 for 5 days now because of the pain.

I was thinking a hematoma (SP?) it's an internal injury that could be bleeding. But you probably would have had to get hit or fell. Could be a cracked rib i suppose. Did you try WEB MD migth narrow it down?

Go to the hospital. You don't have to pay right away and they have to treat you. I have been in your situation before and that's what I did. I eventually paid the bill. Trust me it won't be anything new to them. They can't refuse help to anyone.

there's a whole lot of stuff tucked under your ribcage on that side. it could anything from a simple muscle spasm to, well any number of other things.
i'm afraid you will probably have to see a doctor or go to hospital to get to the bottom of this one.

do you have any other symptoms when you get the pain?

Nope just the severe pain. I would of thought at first that it was a muscle spasm but after over a year... the pain is sharp but it also feels like something has a hold of something inside and is just "squeezing or pulling" it. That is the best words I can come up with to describe it.

i know somebody that had this problem. they actually had a urinary infection. i think their kidneys needed some flushing out. she had to take some pills and it was gone.

also, it can also be a liver problem given the area.

Either way, you need to go to a hospital. The bill will come later. Atleast, you will know what the problem is, before if becomes too serious.
