Getting That "skinny' Look

Hi all

I was watching TV last night, and I noticed one of the actresses on the show who USED to be pretty "thick" is now REALLY thin. I mean she has NO thighs, or anything. I also noticed pics of Anna Nicole Smith from a few years ago. In some she was rather large. Then in some she has NO hips, NO thighs or anything. She looks REALLY skinny.HOW is this possible???
Do they just starve themelsves??

I work out, diet, etc and I NEVER get that thin, so how is it possible for them?? Any thoughts?

Yes, they starve... Many become "closet anorexics". And yes, fasting will naturally help you lose mass amounts of weight... Which you'll gain back "with friends" (meaning you can put on between 10% and 20% MORE) once you start eating normally. It is possible to maintain the benefits of a fast by adopting a healthy diet afterwards... But then, if you do that, ensure the fast is just your "kick start" and don't rely on it to lose large amounts of weight.

Fasting will rid your body of that "bloated" or "thick" look. But take it from an EXPERIENCED FASTER (and one who loves food!) things start happening to you mentally. You need the support of your family. I rely on my parents to tell me when I've fasted long enough, because by the end of a long fast you lose ALL desire to eat (and in many cases are even "afraid" to eat). Eating the wrong things after a fast is also painful. So don't break a fast with pizza, because while it won't kill you, you will WISH it had.

If you want to fast, there are various resources how to do it PROPERLY, and my suggestion is to visit a retreat if you can afford it (I go once every year) and DEFINITELY find a doctor to check up on you while you fast. It's serious business. For a long while your body systems IMPROVE on a fast. Your skin clears, your "puffiness" is gone, and your general well being increases. But then it reaches a point you will rapidly decline if you don't stop fasting. So don't start until you've worked out a support system for stopping. And, if you have anorexic tendencies, a fast will put it over the edge without help.

Soon Anna Nicole will be mere skin and bone, because she's dead.

Fasting will not help you in a healthy and 'lasting' way of losing weight. As for the pics, don't let your perception fool you. A LOT of pictures are photoshopped these days. No one can alter the size of bonestructure by dieting, that is. Please be careful in radical dieting. Why do you want a skinny look? I have always had that 'look' and often have people comment on how I should eat more, while I am just that way.

Also keep in mind that 'stars' (i.e. people with money) can afford liposuction, and other types of plastic surgery, and in addition personal trainers and nutritionists to maintain a certain weight.

Thx Jayar. I would only fast for maybe 2-3 days, then eat sensibly.
I don't want to be anorexic. I just want that "skinny" look without starving myself to death. I really want to lose about 10-15 lbs. I am about 5'4 and weigh about 125. Most of it it is in my hips and butt. I'd love to be about 105 lbs. I think I would be perfect at that weight. Is working out with weights hindering that?

That is not "perfect". Do you realize how many of those stars have checked into some form of treatment center?

Unfortunately, the movie star industry is competitive and people are starving themselves just to get that skinny look. And unfortunately so many girls, who already look good, are seeing that and wanting that look for themselves without realizing that those celebs are slowly killing themselves..

We don't see the behind the scenes.. We just see the pictures that air brush them to make their look even more appealing.

First of all, fasting 2 to 3 days is very healthy and sensible to get you mentally on track, and to lose some excess water weight. Realize you won't be dropping FAT really at that point, you'll be losing SOME fat and mostly glycogen from your muscles which is "water weight". High fat percentage doesn't happen until AFTER the third day, and peaks and then starts declining around about the 14th day. By the 30th day or MAXIMUM 40th day people should be breaking the fast. But for people who really are NOT overweight, they couldn't go 30 days healthily.

You MUST adopt that healthy diet if you want to succeed. And no, working out with weights never hurts or hinders anyone! You may not be 105, but you'll be a nice lean say 110 or 115. Don't get TOO hung up on the scale!

5'4" and 105 isn't absurdly low either. It's what my mom was and she was never "skinny" though she always looked good and was thin when she was younger. People might say it's low now, because the AVERAGE is grossly high, but you should be fine at that.

For comparison, I'm 5'5" and a half... And I'm 115 at goal. And I ain't twiggy.

Muscle weighs more than fat. So if you are exercising and burning fat while gaining muscles you will probably gain a little weight, but you will look more toned.

If you want to lose weight, do it sensibly and eat healthy and watch how many calories you eat per day. And please do not starve yourself.

Thx again Jayar. Again, I have no intentions on fasting for a long period of time. I bought the book "The 7 day Detox" and have been reading it.
Any suggestions on what to start eating once the fast is over?
I plan on just eating broth and drinking lemon water during my fast.

How do you do it?
