Question Breast feeding problem?

okay my baby is 2 weeks old and i have been breastfeeding him since birth also bottle feeding with a special formula to help him gain weight because he was born small.. the other night i noticed after drinking my breast milk he became fussy then cried as if something hurt like the belly ace- & the same thing happened today after drinking it.. He dosent do this with the formula and just now started doing it with my milk. Could there be something wrong with my milk? I know what you cant eat and take while breastfeeding i have been avoiding things i cant have.. So i know that has nothing to do with it.. Maybe my milk is just no good.. Has this happened to anyone? & i plan on asking my doc at my 6 weeks check up but it would be nice to get some info tonight.. plz and thanks

BBE - Sorry to hear. It's soooo important -IN MY OPINION - to stick with the nursing. This could be casued from a few different things but DEFINETLY ask your doc.

Are you burping him well enuff?

Do you pump in between feedings?

I know this may sound sort of weird but have YOU tried the breast milk? It's not really so weird, if you can put it into your baby's body, surely you can try it, yeh?

It's hard to say, he may just needs a burp, not sure if that special formula is giving him constipation (I heard it's common with bottle feds) or simply being fussy.

Have you by any chance seen a counselor that specialize in breat feeding? If not I would highly encourage it. My g/f and I went there with our baby, since she had problem latching on in the beginning and of course having tons of questions, the counselor really helped us to understand what they go through the first few weeks after birth.

Try burping him mid way thru the feeding. Then at the end make sure he gives you a good one.

My friend had a lot of trouble with one of her twins having reflux and would burp her several times during a feeding.

yeh - my sister NEVER burps her baby. Never. I get soooo frustrated. She feeds on one side for like 10 minutes and then just picks him up and switches sides and feeds him for another 10 minutes.

And then she wonders why he always has gas or tummy aches.

Not saying this is your issue, at all, just saying sometimes it can help.

Also, like someone already said, maybe your baby's tummy is just EXTRA sensitive and he IS havign a reation to something you're eating. I don't think you should rule it out...but as the other poster said, just take note of what you're eating and process of elimination what may be troubling his tummy....

Some formula just don't sit well. I've heard goat's milk is darn near the best milk to give little ones because the lactose proteins are small.

Ouch...that's not good...sometimes we lay our baby down too quick after she burps and twice she threw up everything she ate.

My g/f is against all form bottle feeding at this point...she wants the best for our baby

I nursed 3 of my four . Sometimes something as simple as caffeine could give them a belly ache. Is baby eating long enough, or too long? Perhaps he/she needs to burp again. Don't panic, and don't give up. You can always call your doctor for advice also. Don't hesitate if you are really worried.

Your baby is so new that his digestive tract is still getting used to everything.

Talk to your doctor about it, but I bet they'll say just wait it out for a little bit.

My baby went through the same thing at about 2 weeks, but it went away at 3-4 weeks old. The best thing I did was lay him on his stomach across my lap and I'd pat his back and kind of tap my foot so my leg would kinda massage his belly...he'd fall asleep after a little bit of fussing, or he'd fart it out.

Good luck and congrats on your little one!
