I am not currently pregnant, but I am hoping to have kids in the future. Two years ago I vounteered/interned at a hospital in the OB ward and I was able to watch several live natural births which made me never want to have a child naturally. It made me actually lean more towards having a c-section believe it or not... It seems so much less.... damaging down there if you know what I mean!!! I was just wondering, and have been for awhile, if after you have a child/children naturally if you are ever the same down there again. I just don't see how that area would ever recover and get back to how it was. I don't want to be in my 20's-30's and be all loose down there! Can anyone who has had a baby naturally let me know... Thanks!

Your views/fears are not as uncommon as you think.
I sent you a pm about elective c-section so that I would not take your thread off topic. There are plenty of moms on here who had vaginal deliveries so I'm sure some will share their wisdom with you. BellaDonna

Oh no, don' say that. I am planning to get pregnant, hopefully, within the year. Probably I'll have natural child birth, and this sort of freaked me out. Though I am looking forward the pregnancy part and the motherhood later on, I am a bit worried about the actual child birth. What you said makes me really nervous. I heard it is not that bad for everyone. I hope I am one of them.

Oh no!! Sorry I didn't mean to scare you!!! I just was curious if it is really as bad as it well... looks!! Im sure everyone is different, I just wanted to know from someone who went through it if you are ever normal down there again... I just don't see how it is possible after something so big comes out of such as small hole!

Every woman's birth experience is unique. You will hear stories from both ends of the spectrum ("It was a nightmare".... "it was a piece of cake"). You have to choose a birth plan that is comfortable for you. Talk to your doctor. Try to ignore the scary stories because they will just make you nervous.
Women have a lot of options for birth today.

Personally, I don't understand why women elect to have a c-section. It's a much longer recovery period, it's major surgery, and many women just don't really understand the possible risks. They read about elective c-sections in magazines and they think they have all the info they need.
Vaginal delivery can be difficult, but it's a natural process. |

Okay. I was terrified of the same exact thing.
After I had my son, it was a good 3 or 4 weeks before I checked it out. It was so scary to think that I'd look and see my girly parts stretched and sewn together and look like some freakish frankenstein looking thing. But I am happy to report, it looks pretty much the same as it always has. I know what I looked like before, and I can see a tiny difference where I had my stitches, but honestly, you can't tell. It looks almost exactly the same. I started doing my kegels almost immediately and the muscles are back to normal too. The female body is amazing. Don't forget that we are designed to bear children. C-sections, while they are an option and I have nothing against them, they are the unnatural choice. I am suprised and happy with my post-pregnancy body.

Sorry to sound so negative my post, it's just that watching it WHILE it's happening gives you such a bad impression!! Anyone else have any positive/negative stories?? |

I have had three babies naturally....I know it probably looks...shocking....(I was offered a mirror when the baby crowned, I declined it) Everything seems to snap back into place. Think of the uterus and the muscles in the abdomen..everything goes back to where it should, especially with excersize.(As stated above) The female body was MADE to have babies...I would be more worried about a c-section incision across my abdomen, or having muscles cut. Owch!
(My love life is wonderful btw....) |
