I realized tonight how lucky I am...
I was walking with some friends back to my dorm, when I realized how lucky I really am in life; My parents growing up seemed to berate me, but in no way did they ever physically abuse me nor show me they didn't love me. I heard from some of my friends that one of them had an alcholic parent, another had a parent who did drugs, and the main I friend who was talking, said that her parents were always putting her down. I felt sad for how my friend's parents acted around them, but at the same time glad that they had turned out so much better. And then I realized...it could have been worse for me...a lot.

Oh, I needed to read this, now I'm glad too.
I tought about it and yes, you're right - no one had the perfect parents and we all could go to theraphy to resolve problems our parents created for us in the childhood lol But, yeah, one of my friends has an alcohoolic mom, one of my ex'es had mom who was alcoholic. 2 of my friends have divorced parents and me too. My bf has divorced parents.....

good on ya.
we sometimes tend to centre our attentions on the bad things that we see or experience, and these things overshadow our ability to see all the nice things that we receive or have, like having good, loving parents... when we think about it, even a really trivial or small thing can make us more fortunate than the person sitting next to us... and also, we get good stuff from the negative things we experience in life, that is, we acquire wisdom! Im glad for you and wish anyone can be so blessed. And trust me you'd never want to have an alcoholic parent, or parents who put you down. Id do something nice for my parents and get them on a trip to somewhere nice.
