Plantar Warts... Treatment?

Hey all,

Okay, so I have a little, ugly, run of the mill common plantar wart on my heel. I figure I must have picked up the virus walking on hotel carpet or something. Anyway, I wanna nip this in the bud before it spreads (especially since it looks like soon I might have boyfriendly attention to my feet again... Hehehe!)

I've done lots of reading on plantar warts and their treatment, so I'm not looking for regurgitated info here. Specifically I want to hear from those of you who have successfully treated these little buggers, and what did YOU find was the most successful of the available treatments?

Thanks folks!

My children have picked these up a few times. Best treatment for them has been the stuff you buy over the counter that freezes the wart. Within two freeze treatments they have always dropped off and been gone for good.

I had this problem too... tried all of the OTC stuff, had the dermatologist try and freeze them off...nothing seemed to work. So he have me a prescription (Aldera I think it was) and a scalpel... said to apply daily and try and scrape away at it daily... that did the trick...

Thanks both! Looks like I'll see if I can't kill it with a freeze treatment... If that doesn't work I'll go see the dermatologist. Any other experiences?

I've also heard that using duct tape works to draw out the plantar wart. Put duct tape on it for a few days and the wart can be drawn out that way. My friend's mother told me about that one. Her daughter used that method.

I'm not sure about the duct tape one. My dermatologist said it was a myth... I tried it and it didn't work... but I know people who have tried it and it has worked (or it could've been in combination with something else, im not sure).
There's some science that's behind it that i'm just not recalling right now... this is going to bother me.... grr

wanna hear a gross story? As a kid I had this planter's wart on the bottom of my foot for years. We tried everything. I even remember being a little girl and the doctor laid me down on the table and literally cut it out of my foot, without giving me any pain medication whatoever. There was blood everywhere and it left a huge scar but the wart stayed! I tried everything on the face of the earth. What finally got rid of it was a potatoe. I taped a raw potatoe on it (replaced the potatoe daily) until it suffocated and fell off.
