"too" skinny/ "too" fat

I just want to put this out there...

Just as it is not nice to imply someone is too fat, it is not nice to imply someone is too skinny. Same with implying there is something wrong w/ being either.

Many people, including myself are the size they are b/c of genes. I am happy with my size and get annoyed when someone implies Im too thin. I also see this done to others at my work for other reasons and it angers me. Its rude too say someone is too anything. To their face or behind their back. You never know, some people can't help being thin, fat, soft spoken, clumsy, hairy, short, tall, whatever it may be.

Just be carefull w/ your words.

I agree. But there is a point where either can be a health hazard and in that case there can be a need to advise that help should be sort. It's not a matter of right or wrong, it is an issue of health.

Yep, exactly. And what's more, I think people should be careful when they are complimenting very skinny people, because if the cause happens to be anorexia or bulimia, that compliment is just validating their condition.

I agree- if its to the extent where someone looks very unhealthy, it would be a good idea too say something. Im speaking more of the "too" being our own personal standards.

I just think people are more concious to not imply someone is fat, and often don't think much of saying someone is too thin.

Yeah I think that is true. There would generally appear to be more negative bias toward overweight people.

BTW, great photo in your avatar. Did you take that yourself?

I don't think anyone should insult anyone else's weight, however, I do think that word needs to get out that the extremes are not healthy and can cause a great deal of problems for an individual. While I think it's good to make people feel good about themselves, when you read magazines and they tell you that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, it's kind of validating those who are grossly over and underweight. I don't think this is a good thing. I really think there needs to be more done to promote a healthy lifestyle, but it shouldn't come from insulting people and making comments about their weight.

I hear you.

I used to be CONSTANTLY picked on for being "too skinny" and I'm sure that even now, no one will go out with me because of my weight.

It sucks... I can totally relate to someone being rejected due to their weight/appearance.

I'll most likely be alone forever simply because no one is attracted to me.

People are like, even jokingly, "Oh, you're so skinny. You should eat more!"

I'm thinking, "You jam-tard. I DO eat! Probably more than YOU. Like I don't KNOW I'm skinny, idiot."

Sorry, but it pisses me off royally. I know I'm thin. I'm 6'2", 145 lbs. Like I didn't know I'm skinny. God, I hate people.

Wilhelm, you have the BMI I want! By the sounds of it, you're not grossly underweight at all. Just thin. Anyhow, you have the height thing going for you. Lots of girls love lanky guys. I'm one of them! Would you rather be short and rotund?

Have you seen a doctor for a physical and to make sure your thyroid is in good shape? Sometimes an overactive thyroid can make it impossible to gain weight.

If not, I still think you're very lucky to have the body type you have.

I'd rather have hot girls like me.

But just because a couple rarities on the net appreciate my godly form (joke), doesn't do me a whit of good in real life, where I reside.

Doc says I'm perfect. He retorts, "I used to weigh 132" and he's like 6'. lol My dad is 5'11" 135 lbs. Genetic.

Damn genetics.
