scratching skin excessively!?!
ok so lately i have noticed i have been excessively scratching my skin to the point of bleeding. I cant stop sometimes... its like i like the feeling of it or something. Or maybe i just have really dry skin of something. But my roomates have also noticed that i have been doing this alot and i have lots of marks all over my body from this. They said it could be a desease or a psychological issue...any thoughts?

If you live in a cold climate your skin could be dry from the cold.... i know my skin can get really dry in the winter. i have to moisturize moisturize moisturize!
this may sound strange but is there a particular time of the day that you are most itchy... i.e. at night, after a shower... etc.

Does it actually itch? I have some eczema on my fingers which bother me quite a bit during winter.
If not it could be something psychological or maybe some type of a condition you may want to get it looked at by like a dermatologist. |

I developed excma recently when really stressed, now I itch like crazy in air conditioning and if its really humid...
It could be psychological however...

I had that too - mine was (weirdly) a reaction to too much dairy; an allergic reaction anyway. I was clawing at my skin in my sleep. Moisturising and an anti-histamine worked really well, and let my skin heal. It was horrible though - I was taking those pro-biotic drinks. Has anything changed in your diet or surroundings that might make you itch without realising it?

I have this problem as well... Nothing really gets rid of it, but Eucerin Calming Cream (about $10) helps. You could have an allergy to something. Did you switch laundry detergent? Or maybe using a new soap?

Oh, yeah, I get it worse if I eat too much yogurt, which is a catch 22 becuase I need more calcium and milk makes me sick (im sure milk would make me itch, too)
