can't seem to shake this cold.

i've been sick for about 2 weeks now. the worst of it was on christmas day, the day after, and then the day after that. i was in bed and stayed indoors for those 2 days after xmas.

i felt better but what has lingered is this head cold. i am congested or i have a runny nose. i am coughing but there isn't much phlegm in my lungs that i can feel. my lungs actually feel itchy so it prompts me to cough.

i also feel like i am in a fog - kind of lightheaded and hard for me to concentrate. i am also hot and tired a lot.

i haven't been sick in over a year and usually i can get over these ilnesses relatively quickly, so i am not sure what's going on.

i don't have medical insurance so i cannot see a doctor otherwise i would go see one. i was just wondering if anyone else had these symptoms and if so, what did you do to get over it?

i live in nyc and it seems like there is something going around but i am not sure. the weather here has been kind of screwy too. it's been a lot warmer than usual and at nights it can get cold.

This isn't a cold. You have the flu. If you're not feeling better in a couple of days -- literally, two days -- go to a doctor.

well that's the problem. i don't have medical insurance and can't really afford to pay out-of-pocket.

are there any places where i can get diagnosed and prescribed medicine for free? (excuse my ignorance of these things).

I was in NYC over christmas, too, and have exactly the same trouble as do my folks. Something must be going around. Just can't shift the headcold part of the cold and the last few days have been more and more lightheaded and foggy feeling. Doesn't feel like flu to me - I've had that and it's usually quicker onset, high fever, and much worse feeling at the outset - but I don't know what it does feel like. I'm functioning with the stuffiness, but the lightheadedness is really starting to get to me. I'm off to a doctor next week if it doesn't clear, and will let you know if it's anything that needs anything other than bedrest.

Feel better.

Yeah. Canada.

Honestly, I don't know what the States would offer in this regard, if that's where you are. Can you get some vitamin C and some zinc? That will help.

I had the exact same thing; I'm in Ohio and was in Chicago a few days before I got sick. I was sick on Christmas and after... all the way past the new year. I had the exact same thing. I had a stuffy and runny nose like no other, I was in a fog and lightheaded and felt hot and tired all the time.

I've never gotten the flu, but it didn't feel bad enough to be the flu from what I hear (although I never get sick). I still get stuffed up a bit, but I think I am just about over it.

I'd say take some motrin and get plenty of fluids.

A doctor will charge you approximately 97 dollars in Austin Texas to visit if you are sick with no insurance. They give you a discount IF you dont have insurance.

Please go see a doctor ASAP.
