exercise balls
I'm only a little bit overweight, and i'm a pretty busy person and tired a lot, so i dont really do high maintenance workouts. i just hop on the treadmill for 30 minutes a day. However, i'm interested in purchasing an exercise ball, because its about the only thing i can work on that can fit in my room. Do any of you use these things and how do you like them? How much do they cost?

Well I've used one once or twice, but I don't think I knew what I was doing, But I know ALOT of people who use them and they are the most in shape people I know! I heard that if you use them correctly they are GREAT! they come with directions/videos. I'd say it's a good idea.

They're supposed to be really good for toning....
I've seen them being used in the gym but i haven't ever tried! heres a thought....midwives swear by then when a lady is in labour to tighten the pelvic floor muscles... So if it can do that - i'm sure it can do wonders for your abs! let us know if you get one...and how you get on! Flat tummies for all! X

I think you should buy one of those exercise videos. They are not too expensive and I find them to be pretty helpful. Most of the times you just need to buy a few sets or weights and you're set. I had one that I used to do (before I joined the gym) and it got me in pretty good shape. It combined both cardio and weight lifting.

i remember doing sit-ups on these things a couple of years ago... much better workout than normal situps as you have to stabilize your body as you do them (aka works out your "stabilizier" muscles). they definitely bring something new to the workout and you can get a) very tone, b) increase your core strength. i recommend them.
they're pretty cheap. i think < $20 from like target/walmart. also, don't be so hard on yourself. 30 minutes on the treadmill is pretty good! if you want to lose more weight, work on your diet, times you eat (try 6 small meals a day), increase drinking water, run on the treadmill (instead of walking if you do and start slow!). good luck!
