Allergic to lotion??
Is anyone here allergic to lotion?
What do you use for a substitution? |

Anytime I use lotion, I get a really itchy burning rash of hives... I've tried everything, even the non-allergenic types, a doctor prescribed type, and the non scented types...

I've never heard of allergic reactions to lotions-- but anything is possible. I don't know if a certain ingredient makes lotion what it is, but if you could narrow it down somehow through your Dr on what that ingredient is you could get something that doesn't have it in there.
I'm not sure about lotion alternatives, but where I would look is maybe home-made lotion recipes (maybe) But hopefully there's an alternative to lotion, but I'm not sure what it could be. I think you'll have luck finding something, and I'm sorry I don't know of any specific kinds. |

what type of lotion? Body or face? what products have you tried from the stores? Origins has a great lotion that has no scent, all natural products. There is also Cetaphil I believe they make a lotion too. Eucerin is one an old b/f of mine used. He had exzcema.

Yeah, my one of my ex-girlfriends was alergic to lotions. Try looking for hypo-alergenic lotion. I think she used neutragena...
Many lotitions contain dye's and scents that cause alergic reactions in some people. If you want specific advice, check in with your physican or a dermatologist.

How about Aloe Vera gel. That should do the trick.

It's not the type of lotion you use but an ingredient or ingredients in the lotion that may be causing your hypersensitivity. If you're worried, go see an Allergist.

I sometimes use baby oil in stead of body lotion, because it makes my skin nice and soft and it's a whole lot cheaper than a lot of the 'proper' body lotions. Maybe you could try that? I wouldn't recommend it for your face though, too greasy.

You maybe allergic to 'lanolin' like me! Ask at a chemist/drugstore and they'll advise you.
Be careful of choosing products for yourself because some manufacturers don't use the word lanolin on their products but it's still in the product. Good luck. |

Thanks everyone! I have used the Eucerin and many prescribed ones from my doctor. I think I'll try the Baby Oil. I've heard that can help when people break out from lotion. Thanks everyone for your helP!!
