sudden adult acne
Im 25 years old and about 4 months ago I started breaking out with acne like I hadnt since I was 15.At first I thought it was stress due to the fact my girlfriend left me and I was moving to a new town.Well four months later the problem still persists.Im just wondering if this has happened to anyone else at a later age, and if anyone can reccomend anything.Ive tried just about everything.Ive moved into a new apartment as well and Im wondering if maybe its the water.Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks

It could be stress but really I think the best course of action for you to take initially is to get a referral to a dermatologist and get some advice that is specific to your condition and circumstance.

I broke out in an adult-type acne when i was about 23, due to an increase in eating fatty and rich foods (i was dating a chef at the time, so i was eating a lot of brie cheese, yummy cakes, and oily foods in general), so maybe it's your diet?

Are you getting paid for that, monett??
I am lucky enough to have never suffered from acne. I do agree with the dermatologist.

yeah i've had acne for years. what i find that helps is washing twice a day with a mild soap (not the kind for oily skin - something more along the lines of sensitive skin soap), putting on benzol peroxide cream (sp?) before bed and then a mositurizer on top of that. In the day I wear cream with sunscreen. I find that this routine keeps the acne at bay, but I also try to not touch my face or lean on my boyfriend's face too much. Even stuff like not changing your pillow case often enough, or wiping your face after eating greasy food can make you break out. Another one is holding your cell phone against your face.
a great website for info is [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] good luck - hope something eventually helps - i know how frustrating acne can be! |

Too right!
I especially thought: <<ProActiv is used by many celebrities who also have adult acne.>> Was rather good. New job perspectives on the horizon?

Yeah melee18 is spot on with all the advice of keeping your skin clean... for me once benzol peroxide cream stopped working and so I just changed to a cleanser... just try lots of different products with different chemicals. The drugs your doctor will give you may be unecessary if you can control it with carefully keeping your skin clean.
Use the products when they are needed - don't let your skin become oily...do something about it before the dirt causes pimples. (sensitive soap is good for removing oil off of the surface of the skin... I use it) Some products will make your acne worse and some will make your skin dry and painful, you just have to work out which ones work, if you choose to go down that route...I never thought I would stop pimples but I did after lots of trial and error. Also I have to stick to a strict routine, if I break it I break out again! The pharmaceutical companies must love me lol. Also sleep is the most important thing for me... but yeah, I'm not an adult (haha) and so that probably makes a difference I don't know. |

I'm guessing Trident is gum..
Of course they would suggest sugar-free. Less work for them!

A lot of the cause of acne is environmental...stress and sleep are big factors...I don't know about water but it's not the first time I've heard someone consider it.
I think it would be due to the changed circumstances in your life. I've had it just happen in stressful times when it was previously clear and then after that time passed it went away. Again, maybe not quite old enough for that to matter, but I'd say it is the same thing. |
