Attending a catholic school... will they accept me?
Okay so tomorrow *august 31st* will be the third day of me attending my new school. It's a catholic school and people are already starting to warm up to me. some problems are that I have obvious scars up and down my arms. i cover them on my wrists with braceletts and stuff, but it really looks like not many people there cut (on their wrists/arms atleast). when people start to notice, it will be around the whole school. in my last school it got around and most people didnt really care. do you think it will be different in this environment?
also, i'm very bisexual. *one reason my parents sent me to this school... to turn me straight* and a few people know this because I know them out of school. i dont mind people knowing really. im totally "out" at my old school, but i dont know about these circumstances. i dont really want to be shut out before anyone really gets to know me. i have an idea about what you all are going to say.. like.. dont tell them, hide it and stuff. its a part of me though. i dunno. anyone have similar experiences at catholic shcools? |

I think it'll be different in the catholic environment if they see it. They're probably going to find out that you have scars sometime this year anyhow so why not cover it up until someone sees them (somehow lol).
Well are you a guy, or a girl? Your bisexual, so yeah it'll totally be weird around the catholic environment, they'll like freak out I'm assuming lol. Well if you didn't know, Christians are big on like if your gay you'll go to hell and stuff. I personally don't believe in the Democratic view of gay rights and stuff like that but I think what your parents are doing is wrong and they shouldn't turn you straight. Well, they did give you life and provide a roof over your head but still. |

I went to a Catholic grade school for 9 years and am now in a Catholic high school, so I've been in the environment for 12+ years. To tell you the truth I've never seen anyone that has cut so I don't know how everyone will react. However, despite what you think, Catholic schools aren't that much different from regular public schools. The kids are the same; the only real difference is the level of education, quality of teachers, and stricter rules. It all depends on the school and the people there, but the fact it is Catholic barely changes things other than the overall environment.

I agree with the poster above - catholic students won't really react much differently to non-catholics. You might get a few that come down on you, but screw them, you're your own person. I know this from first-hand experience, having attending a catholic school for 7 years (not a catholic any more lol).
Just so you know it is the duty of a good catholic to advise the unreligious and misguided (fair enough), but if they start forcing their opinions on you, they can F off quite frankly. If they are good catholics they should accept you as you are, and judge you by your actions rather than your scars etc. (For those of a religious persuasion, read the parable of the Pharasee and the tax collector, it illustrates my point I think). Hello,
I went to a Catholic school. I'm not a catholic, but I went to church and so I got the priest or vicar to write letters to school and I got accpeted. The Minister put a good case forward for me. At St Mary's where I went, there are just as many non catholics as there are catholics, Miya
