Dry nose... solutions?

Over the past day or so my nose has been feeling dry in the inside (no I do not pick my nose, but I just noticed it yesterday). I've also been sneazing from time to time. Lately I have been immune to allergies but I am wondering if this is some kind of allergy. It's that feeling that you get when there is too much dust around (perhaps there is a lot of dust around, but I have never had this type of reaction around it before). This is at home, by the way.

Any solutions? I already tried taking a couple antihystemine tablets but those did nothing.

No, it's inside the nose, not the skin.

I know. That's why I found my response to be humorous. I don't know what to tell you. All I know is I've experienced the same thing before and I found it to be hell. lol. I too had no idea what to do.

Try looking for a saline nasal spray in the drug store. Ask the pharmacist if you can't find something like that.

Yes I was just going to recommend "Ocean", it's a saline nasal spray specifically meant to moisturize the inner membranes of your nostrils. You can get it at any CVS or Walgreens for around 5 bucks.

There were two ways I interpreted your question and I have 2 solutions for each of them.
1) Does it feel like your nostrils are kind of swollen too? And you can't really breathe out of your nose (You can breathe, but it feels better to breathe out of your mouth?). This used to happen to me a lot, but always when I would be trying to get to sleep. The advice I was given was to prop up my head more with pillows (when lying down), and/or take an Advil Cold&Sinus.

2) Your nasal membranes are dry. You could put some Petroleum jelly on a q-tip and apply it to the inside of your nose. (Do not use a scented lotion.) What works even better is a moisturizer meant especially for the inside of your nose. I would tell you what it is called, but it's upstairs and I am downstairs right now...and I'm not getting up, lol. I'm sure you will find it in the Pharmacy section (it's in a tube...I think it starts with an "R").

Get yourself some vitamin E that is in liquid form and put it on a q-tip. I get like that in the winter time and my nose dries out so much that I get sores up there that hurt like a mother!!! What I do is dip a q-tip into the vitamin E and lightly put some on the inside of my nose and it feels better right away.

This method usually makes me feel better after a couple of applications over a day or so.

I would not use petroleum jelly inside your nose, it is a perfect medium for a breeding ground for bacteria and with the warm moist environment in your nose already it can cause an infection. (they taught us this in nursing school)

I would go with Ocean, or try using a vaporizer in your room at night, keeping the air moist may help.

Ok so I guess I don't need to take anything for it afterall. Feeling (take that whichever way you want) a lot better today.

Thanks, though... y'all.
