Wrist issue

I hurt my wrist and went to the ER to have it checked out. They said it's not broken, and told me to keep it in a brace and put ice and stuff.

But it hurts really bad.
Could it be sprained? Should I have someone else review the X ray if it doesn't feel better by Monday?

If it's broken, it's more numb than hurting- until you press on it. If it's a sprain int hurts real bad. So it will probably heal quickly even though it hurts so much. I've had a lot of breaks and sprains.

You could have some tendonitis. Try to keep it immobilized for awhile and it should start feeling better. I hurt my wrist playing soccer and thought the same thing so after like 3 weeks i finally got it x-rayed and they said it wasnt broken but i probably did some damage to the tendons which is why it was so painful when i moved it in certain ways. Give it some time and rest and it should start feeling better. If its really bothering you in a couple weeks id definitely go have it rechecked since hairline fractures often dont show up on xrays until after they've begun to heal!

Yep. Was gonna post it could be tendonitis. If anything if it still hurts within a week or so, go get checked out by orthopedics if you can. I went to two doctors before the ortho and was finally told I had tendonitis. If its a sprain or something other than a break, it more than likely isn't gonna show up on the x-ray.

I would say DON'T take advice of random interneters! Go get a second opinion... even if a hundred people give you the same opinion on here, no one is there actually looking at your wrist!

Well, it feels better today. I had ice on it last night for a couple of hours.

There's a small bone in the wrist called the scaphoid, which is extremely difficult to diagnose with a fracture as it can be invisible on the 1st x-ray taken. It's usually caused from falling onto an outstretched hand and is often missed because it feels like a sprain or strain and there is no deformity of the wrist. If you continue to have a lot of pain after 5-7 days you definitely need to go back and get it rechecked, especially if you did fall onto an outstretched hand.
