  1. I work with the British Columbia Ministry of Children and Families, and I and my good hearted co workers are often extremely frustrated that the media time and time and time again writes artices describing our organization as being incompetent and ineffective at protecting children. The articles that certain newspapers (I won't mention names) write are filled with numerous factual errors and opinions that are devoid of logical thinking and evidence. The newspapers like to pump out the extremely rare stories of children being abused while in Ministry care, while ignoring the fact that well over 97% of children in Ministry care receive care that is outstanding, professional, and deserving of praise. They take out isolated mistakes, and make them sound like they are the norm, when in fact they are nothing but isolated mistakes. It seems that media outlets, both in this province and accross North America, get a kick out of bashing child protective services. The workers who work for this organizations are highly educated (almost all hold atleast a Masters degree), professional, caring, and very intelligent. I think that the real reason why they bash the child welfare agencies is because they feel guilty that someone is actually doing something to help chlidren while they are doing nothing. I remember when I worked for World Vision lots of people would come up to me and rant about World Vision - But when I would ask them what they were doing to help starving children around the world, they would reply they weren't doing anything. It seems that those who do nothing to help other people enjoy bashing those who are helping other people. That is why most media people get a kick out of putting down the child welfare agencies, because they feel guilty that they are doing nothing to protect children, and that is why they run articles that are illogical, unsupported by evidence, biased, and generally inaccuarate. Does anyone else have any other thoughts ??
  2. What matters is that you find someone is actually shares the same interests and ideas as you, and with whom you can be best friends. The intimate friendship should be there first before you start a relationship with a girl.
  3. Ignore people who ignore you. Find people who do appreciate you. Not everyone will like you. If someone dislikes you, thats their problem, not yours. Just like yourself, and you will grow to find other who appreciate you for who you are.
  4. Well, first of all stop dating. Why dont you befriend men. It's better to be friends first, and then you really get to know what a person really is like when they are not trying to impress you for whatever reason. Find men who are just friends, who you can be yourself with, and who they can be themselves with you. Be friends first for atleast a year, so you can see thier true character, and so you can also be genuine with them first. For me, i will start a relationship unless I know the girl for atleast one year as a friend.
  5. Ask her what she means when she says that. At the time, when she said it, you should have asked her to explain herself if you were feeling confused by her statement. We don't know what she means. So ask her.
  6. Dude, when you approach women, just be yourself. Women generally won't respond in any set way. They are unpredictable. And then you will find yourself caught off guard and not know what to do. Just be yourself. Don't pretend to be something you are not. Just go up to a woman, say hello, ask her how she is, and show some genuine interest in something about her. Just treat her like you will treat any other normal person. Just be yourself. If you have problems, just keep practicing again and again and again until you feel confident. Practice is what will build up your self confidence, not mental rehearsal.
  7. Just want to celebrate the fact that I have reach a small mile stone of losing 10 pounds. Maybe this doesn't mean much to some people here, but it means a lot to me. In just 6 weeks of hard work, I am now down from 209 to 199, and I want to get down to 190. It just feels really good to be doing this. Thatz all I have to say...
  8. Stop looking for a boyfriend. Be friends with guys first. Always start as friend, because then you get the chance to really get to know someone. When you date, people usually put on an impression of what they want people to think of them, and not how they really are. Instead, initiate friendship with as many guys as you possibly can, and then you will know thier real character when they are not trying to impress you. Also, if you have lots of guy friends, even if they don't work out, many of them may know a single friend who is right for you.....
  9. The Virgin Heart Has never been held Never been missed It's alone And it likes it that way (sometimes) Its treading along a dangerous path The love window is closing But a leap too soon will be fatal The Virgin Heart Possesses more value than diamonds Because it has never been touched But unless given It is all meaningless...
  10. Dude, Don't mix work and pleasure. I tell you, its a really really bad idea. Never date a co worker, or if you do, wait until atleast one of you doesn't work there so there is no work / relationship conflict. The age gap thing doesn't really matter.....
  11. I think Annie is right. I don't think most people have this belief. If you have encountered people who think like this, then that is too bad. But I'm sure most people don't have these beliefs.
  12. Number 2 is better, but I think its best to not to use the internet to find a girlfriend. ON the internet people can be just what they want to be. Instead of posting profiles, befriend girls in real life. If you are friends first, you can see how that person really is when they are not just trying to impress you.
  13. But the passing on genes theory only works if the offspring of attractive women end up surviving and reproducing themselves. Is there any proof that offspring from attractive women are more likely to survive and to pass on thier genes ?? If not, then that can't be the reason why men tend to prefer attractive women....is there any relationship between attractiveness and having children survive and reproduce themselves ????
