In view of the above case histories, whose outcomes are evidenced by established scientific thought, my personal theory has evolved. I believe the EMF disturbing the pineal gland can also come from amalgams in your mouth. After all, the electric field in the mouth is a permanent 24 hour per day exposure to radiation, bombarding the brain, the pineal, pituitary, thyroid, and parathyroid glands. Also, if the pineal (the master gland) is not giving the right chemical messengers to the rest of the endocrine system, then any gland in the body can become dysfunctional. So, not only do you have EMF that are man-made to be concerned with, but you also have the man-made field (EMF) permanently installed in your own mouth. Your T.V. or electric clock can be moved away from your body, thus removing the EMF from your physical being, but you can't take the metal and "move" it out of your teeth in order to remove the field from your body. You're stuck with that field permanently, unless you go through expensive, permanent dental removal and replacement with non-metal. Now, lets talk about man made EMF fields. What is a healthy distance from electric powered appliances and their corresponding EMF's? I follow the following information: FAN, 3-6 feet; CLOCK, 6 feet; COMPUTER, 6 feet; TELEVISION, 6 feet for a smaller screen; COPY MACHINE/LASER PRINTER, 6 feet, LAMPS, 1 foot and no wires should ever go under the bed or under or behind a couch or chair that you sit on constantly.

Of course, the best way is to buy a Trifield meter and meter everything for yourself. The best book to read to get all the facts on distances is Electromagnetic Pollution Solutions. Even the office of Technology Assessment of the Congress of the United States recommends a policy of 'prudent avoidance' of man-made electromagnetic fields.

Now, if you're interested in measuring these fields in your house, car, shopping malls, airplanes, etc., there is a wonderful meter being sold that does the job extremely well. You can purchase it through TOOLS,INC. It is called a TriField meter. The instrument meters EMF's in milligauss.

You walk up to the appliance that you are testing with the meter pointed directly at it. Turn the appliance to the "on" position and you will see the instrument's needle go all the way to the end of the red zone on the scale, as high as it can possibly go. Now, start backing up from the appliance, keeping your eye on the needle. As you put distance between you and the appliance, you will see that the needle slowly goes down. When it reaches zero, you are out of the EMF.

Now, there is something called the Ambient Field (AF) and is produced by the local electric power transmission and distribution network (electric power lines). It is a field that we are constantly exposed to inside and outside of our homes. The studies of Wertheimer, Savitz, and others indicate that residential exposure to ambient fields more than three milligauss are related to increases of childhood cancer. There is good evidence that such fields may also be associated with adult cancers. Here are a few incidents to consider. These articles are from pages 62, 63, and 69 of Health Consciousness Magazine, December 1991, article by Wolfgang Maes, Part two of four, Bau Biologie, Stress from Current and Radiation, reprinted here with permission from Wolfgang Maes.

"Four years ago, the electric company of Houston, Texas, was required to pay compensation of more than 25 million dollars to a private school. The courts determined that a high tension line over the school campus was a health hazard for more than 3,000 students. The judges also required the company to move the line.

After continuous pressure from the people in the Canadian province of Manitoba, the power supply company agreed to buy all of the homes adjacent to a 100 mile long, high-tension line to avoid damage claims. In Italy, in 1988, a district court in the province of Torrino ordered a 380 kilovolt high-tension line moved and warning signs erected, adjacent to the new line.

Near Madrid, Spain, two small towns, San Sebastian and Alcobendas, were crossed by two gigantic high- tension lines. After the building of these bussing giants, numerous health complaints began to emerge. Mysterious diseases, more cancer than ever, and leukemia, appeared in these towns. The first local scientific investigations indicate a significant relationship to the electric towers.

A study ordered in 1982 by the U.S. Navy provided some sound statistics: Alternating electrical and magnetic fields which exist in most living, sleeping, and working rooms can produce may types of cancer, malformations in children, and even suicides.

Research by a number of scientists leads to the conclusion that there is a relationship between the mysterious, sudden death of babies (4,000 babies in Germany) and electromagnetic fields.

The clinical studies of three physicians, Monro, Choy and Smith, clearly show that fatigue and extreme headaches are directly related to modest electro- magnetic fields to which we are exposed in the house-hold and our working places. Electromagnetic fields could also be the basis for most allergies.

Five hundred thousand people, who were regularly exposed to strong electromagnetic fields, have been examined in the state of Washington. It was found that 60 percent of them showed a higher rate of leukemia and 75 percent, a higher rate of lymph gland cancer in comparison to a control group without such exposure.

In Sweden, Tomenius, a Swedish researcher, examined 45 families with high electromagnetic loads. Thirty-two children living there have cancer.

From France, three scientists; Dutrus, Martinez and Fole, made laboratory experiments with young students. Electromagnetic exposures generated noticeable changes in heart activity, disorders of the central nerve system exhaustion, lack of motivation, headaches, ...whenever the stress from electricity was stopped, without knowledge of the test person(s), the complaints of the eight students disappeared and their mood brightened.

From Germany, Professor Feindegen, from the Institute for Medicine in Julich, has experimented with mice and found that an enzyme which is in charge of cell metabolism had its activity slowed down by 80 percent under strong EMF exposure. Within minutes after the EMF was removed, the enzyme activity came to normal. The scientist, Professor Feindegen, also found a similar relationship for radiation from radioactivity."

The last example cited here upholds my theory of EMF's from your mouth disrupting metabolism of fat and therefore causing chronic obesity. From page 68 a continuation of the article by Wolfgang Maes.

"Don't be fooled by the argument that the earth gives off electromagnetic fields and that we have lived with these EMFs from the beginning of time:

This argument conceals the fact that artificial electromagnetic fields from high-tension lines have nothing in common, in quality or quantity, with the natural terrestrial magnetic field. There is no comparison possible! The power from the Earth is without any frequency. That means it is static. It has balanced, harmonious field strengths. It has obviously positive consequences for all life - during the millions of years of its development. It stimulates all of the natural processes in a miraculous way. It is part of our order and quality of life. The magnetic power from electric current works with a frequency of 50 or 60 hertz. It has an unbalanced, disharmonious, and always heavily changing, field strength - from minute to minute and from day to day. It is a brand-new part of our modern world and is a totally artificial disorder of life."

So much for examples and scientific data. I have three interesting personal experiences that I can share with you. The first one concerns my friend Diane, who was also the president of D.A.M.S. in this area. She had mercury poisoning and had her amalgams removed. She went through all of the necessary detoxing and rebuilding of her immune system. But, she never had a problem with the electromagnetic pollution. Luckily for her, electrical emanations did not seem to bother her. Then, she went to have her TMJ treated. He made her a mouth piece, all metal with some of the metal covered with plastic, that she had to wear 24 hours each day. The first day that she received it, she showed it to me and I cautioned her on using it because the metal would cause a high electrical field to form in her mouth and disrupt her glands and brain. She felt that she had to correct her TMJ and decided to use the devise anyway. Well, the results were disastrous. She became ill the same day and continued to get worse daily. Weakness, headaches, lack of concentration, loss of recent memory and total fatigue were symptoms that plagued her. Finally, unable to stand it anymore, and with my daily urging, she called the dentist and told him the problem and demanded an appliance made totally of plastic. He complied with her wishes and the symptoms started to disappear the day that she started using the new plastic appliance and within a few days she was her normal self again.

Looking back at my own life, I can now see that I took a tremendous turn for the worst when I had braces applied to my teeth. I wore braces for a year or two before they operated to move my jaw forward to try to correct the TMJ problem. The operation was in the fall of 1983, so the braces would have been applied in 1981 or 1982. I remember the job I had at the time, and how I was always falling asleep. I could hardly put one foot in front of the other, and my mental and emotional state of being was totally chaotic. Too bad I didn't know then what I know now. Adding the metal braces to all that amalgam must have doubled or tripled the electrical field in my mouth. I also had a tremendous gaining of weight during those years. In my opinion metal braces alone are dangerous even if there is no amalgam in the mouth. As soon as the braces are installed they would instantly create a huge EMF in the mouth.
