How I Know Jupiter Works
Madalyn Aslan's Jupiter Signs
by Madalyn Aslan

Your Sun sign tells you who your are. Your Jupiter sign tells you what you can achieve.

In Madalyn Aslan's Jupiter Signs, Madalyn describes how Jupiter is the planet governing luck, love, success, and money-and how the sign it was in at your birth can enrich you with secret strategies to change your life for the better.

A table helps readers find their own Jupiter sign, and twelve illustrated chapters provide detailed advice for each sign, including:

  • Your lucky dates, diets, looks, and financial strategies
  • Your most powerful career moves
  • Innate potential and hidden opportunities
  • How to reach optimum health and energy
  • Relationship success: how to proceed with your lover, family, and boss
  • 144 Sun-sign/Jupiter-sign combinations with over 900 celebrity profiles

With details of the dynamic relationship between your personality and your potential, and celebrity examples from Confuscious to Elvis, Oprah to J. Lo, this is a brilliant hands-on book for success in all areas of your life.

Ever wish you could make yourself lucky? As Glenda the Good Witch said, 'Look no farther than yourself. Your power was with you all along.'

There's a true self deep down inside you, a real, authentic self only you can sense. It's that vision of yourself you feel when you know your thinking and your actions are genuine. It's that inner sense that says 'Yes!' when you do the right thing.

Your true self can keep you going even in the darkest of times. Sometimes you're so close to it you feel you can touch or even taste it. It's a great feeling, to sense that your outside matches that real and perfect self inside. That's living. That's the real thing.

As long as you stay in touch with your true self 'listening to every word of wisdom it tells you' you'll have a lifetime's opportunity to learn, to expand your vision, to challenge yourself, and to experience happiness.

So how can you expand to your full potential? There are many routes, and one of the best ways I've found is to apply the art and science of astrology.

Astrology, used correctly, isn't just about discovering your character and personality. It's also about making the right decisions, about change, about creating a life that uniquely satisfies you. It's about participating in your own fate.

The planetary furniture in your house is being moved around every day. You're always changing, always making choices. For better or for worse, you are captain of your own ship. You can't change the past, although you may heal its effects but as far as the future, the world is your oyster!

While most astrology books tell you 'who you really are,' this book is unique in that it provides a template for change. That template is your Jupiter sign, your personal road map to luck and success. All you need do is read the instructions for your sign, check in with your true self, and hit the road running.

Delving into Jupiter signs is the new astrology it's news you can use and putting this information into practice can help you find luck and success in life no matter how hard the road has been thus far.

So what does it mean, technically, to be a certain Jupiter sign? It means to be born when Jupiter was in one of the zodiac's twelve constellations, or Sun signs Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, or Pisces. There are twelve Jupiter signs, same as the Sun signs. Most of us know which sign we are, but by this we mean our Sun sign.

The Sun signs are a great place to start, but there's so much more to astrology! You have ten different planets in your astrological chart. And they all interact with one another in countless ways to affect who you are. For a reminder, here are the bodies (discovered so far) affecting us:

The Sun: around which we revolve, gives us life, motivation, energy, heat, and light.
Mercury: delivers and translates thought, messages, speech, and movement.
The Moon: guides emotions, the tides, intuition, and subconscious needs.
Venus: idealizes our stay on Earth. Enhances love, desire, and beauty.
Mars: charges our energy, ambition, and sex drive. Connects us to our mates.
Saturn: teaches us the lessons we must learn, giving great wisdom and strength.
Neptune: creates our dreams, images, and psychic abilities.
Pluto: ignites transformations and drastic changes, including natural disasters on Earth.
Uranus: shocks us with revolutions, revelations, and physical electricity.
Jupiter: protects us, inspires us, and gives us lucky break after lucky break!

The question is how are you affected? You probably know your Sun sign and how it affects your life force and impulses. You may be familiar with other Sun sign traits and recognize them in people you know Oh, I'm Leo, he's Pisces, she's Gemini, and so on. You may know your different planetary placements, such as which sign your Moon is in. Your Moon and Ascendant (or Rising sign) are considered the most important positions after your Sun sign. But I say your Jupiter is the most important! Think about it: Jupiter gives off nine times the radiation it receives from the Sun. Following the traits of your Jupiter sign increases your luck ninefold.

The news from Jupiter is good. Success is yours for the asking. All you have to do is act like your Jupiter sign following the instructions laid out in this book and you will find luck, success, and magic drawn to you, the gifts of Jupiter's bounty. Your motivation comes from the Sun (your Sun sign), but how you succeed in bringing about success comes from Jupiter (your Jupiter sign). Sun is personality; Jupiter is potential. Sun is descriptive; Jupiter is prescriptive. Jupiter is all about inspiring action and results.

Take some time and ask yourself what has made you lucky in your life. What has made you unlucky? Look back over your life and recount some important events. When you act like your Jupiter sign, you can create miracles in your life. No matter what your Sun sign is, you have a Jupiter sign, which is, ultimately, more important for deciding your destiny. Sun is character, Jupiter is destiny.

Why is Jupiter so great and so powerful? From the macrocosm of the universe to the microcosm of your life, Jupiter's effect is awesome. Jupiter emits frequencies radiating more energy than even the Sun's frequencies. Jupiter is, in fact, its own sun scientists believe Jupiter formed from the same mass of material as the Sun. Its mass is thirteen hundred times greater than that of our Earth. Midas-like, it expands everything it touches. It acts big and generously, too. Ancient Greeks and Romans called Jupiter the planet of benevolence. Modern-day astrologers call Jupiter the planet of beneficence. Jupiter is, above all else, helpful. It saves our lives every day. Scientists argue that Jupiter has protected Earth from mass destruction for millennia. Its gravitational field is so powerful that it physically pulls asteroids aimed right at us off their course and deflects them into outer space. It does the same energetically in your life. What might you consider to be destructive asteroids threatening your life? Which obstacles are in your path? Jupiter protects, saves, and makes you lucky.

We are made of molecules that were once stars. It is impossible to not be affected by such a powerful environment as this great universe in which we live. Put yourself into the picture. How can Jupiter's force field affect millions of miles, glacial asteroids, the Earth and not you at all? Without the Sun, there would be no life. The Sun gives us life; Jupiter gives us lucky breaks. It's as simple, and gracious, as that.

What is your Jupiter sign in? When are you most lucky? Think about what in your life has made you lucky. Now look up your Jupiter sign in the Jupiter table and compare it to your Sun sign. Perhaps you're a modest, self-sacrificing Virgo, and your Jupiter sign is in royal, confident Leo. Ask yourself: Which sign's behavior has brought more luck into your life? If you ever really let yourself act like a Leo, what would happen? Feed its influence and see your luck expand. Watch your former bad luck, unfed, wither and die away.

How does your Jupiter sign make you lucky? One of my clients, Joanna, learned the hard way. She was a Libra and knew what that meant: the Scales, weighing everything, striving to make the perfect decision, wanting everyone around her to be in harmony a lot of wishful thinking, but not much in the results department; a few early stabs of ambition in her life, to be eventually crushed by self-doubt and conflicting Libra dilemmas and urges.

She'd moved from Ohio to New York at the age of nineteen to be a model, a huge and very frightening step for her to take. When she came to see me, she was twenty-seven, a fashion accessories editor at an upscale magazine based in Manhattan, frustrated and discouraged to dreary distraction. With three helpings of Libra (Sun, Ascendant, and Moon), she suffered with a misplaced idealism that had caused her to experience several tormented years. She was very concerned about other people liking her, about which parties she got invited to, all the materially based hullabaloo of the early nineties. All this began to change when she discovered that her Jupiter, the planet of luck, was in her opposite sign of Aries. 'How totally weird,' she exclaimed when I first revealed this to her. 'But exactly what does that mean? I'm a Libra ... aren't I supposed to act like a Libra?'

Not exactly. But it took two more daunting years. By then Joanna was twenty-nine, had split up with her boyfriend, was sick of being broke, hanging on in the same sterile studio apartment, stuck in the same boring and humiliating job, which, in spite of the free samples of perfume and scarves, just wasn't 'doing it for her.'

Finally she came to trust and to try her Jupiter luck and to not be scared of it.

At first, her Jupiter sign flew in the face of all she thought about herself. She saw herself as cool, observant, with a funny, slightly sarcastic (but not mean) bent. She had friends who were going places but never seemed to want to take her with them. She felt she gave and gave, and got nothing in return. The last thing she wanted to be was aggressive and selfishly oblivious, like one of those 'trendy fashion idiots.' It also didn't help that her older sister was an Aries, with Jupiter in Aries, too, and the last thing Joanna wanted to be was like her sister. I pointed out that we often resist what is good for us because it reminds us of something we'd rather keep in the past!

We looked back on her life together, and I helped Joanna to see that every 'lucky' thing that had ever happened to her was when she acted not like a Libra but like an Aries! Whenever she took a leap of faith as Aries Rams do, with no Libra-like doubt or hesitation she got lucky.

I pointed out to her that a good example was when she first moved to New York from Ohio. It had been great and stimulating for her, and she was ecstatic; she recalled feeling truly alive for the first time in her life.

In those early adrenaline days, whenever she was challenged, she got competitive. That was how she landed her first editorial position and left modeling in the dust, not caring what her 'beautiful people' friends thought of the move. Whenever she got excited and inspired by the fire of Aries, passing up the air (thought) of Libra, and went with her (Aries) leader side instead of her 'nice' (Libra) follower side, she got lucky and got what she wanted. That in effect was how she snagged her first boyfriend. Whenever Joanna acted like an outstanding Aries, she succeeded like one.

You could say this type of behavior shift can work for a lot of people. Or that it's a particularly female challenge not to sacrifice your strength in order to be liked. Or, what can you expect, she lived in New York City for eight years of course she had to learn to be aggressive and assertive! All the above may have their truths.

However, it's different for everyone. For example, an impatient, outspoken Aries woman with her Jupiter in Scorpio would get lucky acting like a patient, keep-it-to-yourself Scorpio, not like an Aries. A self-sufficient Capricorn with her Jupiter in family-oriented Cancer will succeed better by working and living with others rather than by being a completely independent Capricorn. A play-it-by-the-rules Virgo with her Jupiter in buck-the-system Aquarius gets more successful being irreverent than appropriate!

What if you're a Taurus Sun, and you love nothing more than being a cute couch potato and eating chocolate (which Bulls are very partial to), or a Cancer Sun for whom staying home all weekend makes you all content as nothing else? But your Jupiter is in adventurous Sagittarius?

Your Sun sign's aversion to venturing boldly forth into the world won't make you lucky nor will it give you the greatest, most exciting life. For that, you need to express your fun Sagittarius lucky self. Take care of your Sun and Moon needs, by all means, but if you allow those parts of you to swamp the rest, the overall result will not be good.

Your motivation comes from the Sun (your Sun sign), but how you succeed in bringing it about comes by way of Jupiter (your Jupiter sign). You'll still want what you want, but knowing and using your Jupiter sign is a much more effective way of guaranteeing that you'll get it. For every Jupiter sign, it is different. Behavior that is lucky for one Jupiter sign is unlucky for another.

In 92 percent of all cases, the Jupiter sign is completely different from the Sun sign. This is breaking news in astrology, giving us even greater freedom of choice than we ever thought possible. To act from an unfamiliar part of yourself that will bring you luck and that may even conflict with your known personality is like discovering a new land, one loaded with many treasures! It's your choice your luck!

Within these pages you will find more than general advice on how to attract the luck and success of Jupiter; you will also find advice on how to create the greatest luck with lovers, coworkers, mates, children, family, and friends. You will find tips on your best look, your best dates and times, and the healthiest environment for you to live in. You can also look up the Jupiter signs of everyone you know! There are special sections on how to get on with the boss of any Jupiter sign, as well as your significant other, your child, and your parent of any Jupiter sign. You will find what you need to do to be successful, happy, healthy, and lucky. You will understand how opposite Sun signs and Jupiter signs can work together. You will learn to use both to your advantage instead of being torn or stifled by potential conflict. Your Jupiter sign could be close to your Sun sign, or completely different.

For some people, their Sun is in the same sign as their Jupiter. I refer to this as 'double Jupiter,' and a description of their traits and fates can be found in every Jupiter sign chapter.

By the simple act of taking this first terribly important step, you are already accepting your Jupiter energy and allowing Jupiter to help you reach your potential. Act out your Jupiter sign's traits, described in each chapter, for a week, and see what happens. When you read your horoscope, read the sign of your Jupiter, not your Sun. In other words, if you are Aquarius with Scorpio Jupiter, follow the advice for Scorpio, but not for Aquarius. Each Jupiter sign is different. Behavior that is lucky for one Jupiter sign is unlucky for another Jupiter sign. Put the Jupiter theory to the test in your life. Try it for a week! You will lose nothing and you will gain everything.

There are times when we must go down it's part of the equation but let's not stay there. Everything that goes up must come down and vice versa!

If you follow the guidelines set out for your Jupiter sign, you will find luck magnetically drawn to you. You will find new opportunities and learn to take advantage of them. You will understand your personal path toward success and achieving your dreams.

It isn't magic; you will still have to work and plan and strive hard. But you will know one very major and highly useful shortcut the way to harness the energy of Jupiter in the workplace, the home, in love, and in the wider world to make your dreams come true. Ready to take the Jupiter leap and make yourself lucky?

Because Jupiter famously expands everything it touches, it traditionally rules excess, so it is possible to go overboard with Jupiter's power but! ... Don't use this as an excuse not to use your Jupiter. It is hard to change yourself and easy to think of excuses for not changing. It is important to remind yourself how you can sabotage your own success without even realizing it. And since it is true that Jupiter rules excess, understand that too much of a good thing is not always beneficial.

But let me ask you: Have you ever really had a problem with too much happiness?

I, like most people, have always been inspired by stories of strength and survival and wisdom, fascinated by what makes one person able to overcome and triumph and another not. I tell people I became a psychic and astrologer as a way to communicate. But really, more deeply, it was to find out for myself what it meant to have contact with the deepest, unconscious part of myself.

I'm going to share with you some inspirations that have helped me through life:

If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you. —Jesus Christ, the Gospel of St. Thomas, discovered in 1945 in Nag Hamadi. The only record of a gospel written in Jesus' words.

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of man as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. —Helen Keller

Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. —Nelson Mandela recited these lines in his inauguration speech, May 1994, after twenty-seven years in prison. He was quoting from Marianne Williamson's A Return to Love.

Jupiter power is the best-kept secret in astrology. Then again, maybe you're not really ready for a huge tide of good fortune. Maybe it's not the right time for you to get that promotion, to be swept off your feet, or to win the $33 million Lotto. Maybe you need to learn more, see more, before you close a particular chapter of your life. Maybe you could be missing something even better! But as long as you are informed and aware, and making conscious and kind decisions you're doing the best you can.

Dig up that winning lottery ticket you were born with and bring it on in. As Dorothy's pretty witch said, 'Look no farther than yourself.' Claim your Jupiter power now!
