The Home / Work Dilemma
Power Tools for Women
by Joni Daniels
When I talk to women at corporate and professional development seminars about using all their skills, they tell me, 'I can do this at work but not at home.' 'I can do this at home but not with my church group.'

Sticks and Stones, The Power Within
Power Tools for Women
by Joni Daniels
Not only might other people harbor negative thoughts about our behavior, they might even say what they are thinking. While a man may feel a certain male pride if he is referred to as a 'tough bastard,' a woman feels cut to the core when she is called

We Are Stuck
Power Tools for Women
by Joni Daniels
If you have strength and don't realize it, then that strength has little value for you. If you appreciate your strength but fail to exercise it, others won't be aware of it and will act as if it doesn't exist.

Power Tools for Women

The Confident Woman: How to Take Charge and Recharge Your Life

I can't remember when I didn't want to write this book. After a lifetime of experiencing little confidence, two separate, but related incidents led me to stop thinking about it and sit down to prepare, and eventually write The Confident Woman.

Good choice # 1
10 Good Choices That Empower Black Women's Lives
by Grace Cornish, Ph.D.
Is a red rose more beautiful than a yellow one? Or a white rose prettier than a pink? Who can be the judge of which is more valuable? Just as roses vary in their beauty, so do women. Whether white, black, Hispanic, Indian, or Asian, all are beautiful.

Floss: Women, Prison, and Life Behind Bars
A World Apart
by Cristina Rathbone
Fluffy was a surprise. An aging seventies throwback with piles of teased blond hair and too much makeup, she was older than Denise Russell, past her prime perhaps, and sad, but not frightening, not threatening at all.

Rachel Ashwell and Barbara Boxer
What I Know Now
by Ellyn Spragins
'Don't leave school just yet.' Deep pillows and feather beds are at hand. Plump armchairs wear slouchy white denim or cream linen slipcovers. Worn tables bear honorable scars and nicks.

Madeleine Albright and Maya Angelou
What I Know Now
by Ellyn Spragins
'You've got the guts to find your own purpose.' It's odd to think of a former secretary of state as someone who worries about fitting in, but for a long time Madeleine Albright did. In a group, she paid attention rather than interrupt.

Wake Up, Sister. It's Your Turn
A Weekend to Change Your Life
by Joan Anderson
Recognize That You Are Lost. A full life requires cultivation. The minute we take our hands off the plow, fail to reseed, forget to fertilize, we've lost our crop.
